Hello World!  Friday night The Mallett Brothers Band performed at the Riverwalk Cafe and Music Bar in Nashua, New Hampshire.  I was psyched to go! I have wanted to see them ever since Thomas Snow (pianist for Jonathan Edwards) mentioned the band to me more than a year ago. If you have been following 603melody you may have already caught a clip of them with Dave Mallett (Will and Luke’s dad). The band also includes musicians Andrew, Wally, and Nick. They were excited to introduce their newest bandmate, their drummer Chris. They put the live in live music! After the show the guys were super cool to tell me about their favorite musicians. A pretty diverse list, but they all agreed on Wu Tang Clan. Yes- Wu Tang Clan!

Click below on a few of their favorites. This is the hard part for me, picking and choosing what videos to post, and of course check out some music by The Mallett Brothers Band. I am not sure exactly how they feel about Milli Vanilli ( Girl, You Know It’s True ) but the topic did come up during their performance Friday.

“What are you listening to?” is not as easy to answer as one might think! Will  took time to look up some music on his phone. Hiss Golden Messenger and J. Roddy Walston and the Business are new to me.  Check out Numbers !

Nick enjoys J.J.Cale, take a listen- Crazy Mama

Chris listens to Jerry Garcia, The Grateful Dead, Tedeschi Trucks Band- Anyhow is pretty awesome, as well as John Coltrane.

Will volunteered that his brother, Luke, likes Nikki Lane. I thought  Gone, Gone, Gone was a cool tune. Luke added Donovan Woods to the list. I went down that musical rabbit hole for awhile. I could still be there but got to keep this blog moving. Luke also enjoys Drive By Truckers.

Andrew listens to Phish, Leftover Salmon ( I took a look a listen to Southern Belle), as well as Hardworking Americans.

Wally is wild about 60s music from Italian movies and Japanese girls pop music (Bossa Nova).  Ok, I am not too proud to admit that Wally has me slightly stumped on this one.  Hopefully this link hits the mark –  Nippon Girls.  Luckily I have a friend in Japan. Thank goodness for friends and technology! Chika was not sure who the Nippon Girls were, but she tried to help me out with this video. She told me it is called  The Sun Is Crying  by Ayumi Ishida.  According to Chika it is the B-side of the popular 1960s song- Blue Light Yokohama. Thanks Chika!  Now back to more familiar territory!

PS  Just started a YouTube channel earlier this month as another way to share some favorite music videos.  There is only one so far that I take “official” credit for filming-my 603melody Charlie Mars interview. Do not expect to hear me singing or playing any musical instruments.  Aliens may have taken over my body if that day comes.  Call for help! Look up 603 Melody today on YouTube!

Hello World!

It was one year ago today that 603melody.com was launched!  The idea is simple.       What are you listening to?  I love to share my musical discoveries, and musings as well as others’ thoughts. I think my family and friends are umm well relieved. I do not send them nearly as many Youtube videos to check out. I can’t help it if there is so much music to enjoy!

603melody continues to be a learning process. But I am excited to see what the future holds for the blog, and Instagram account (@603melody). Nothing ventured, nothing gained as the saying goes. I appreciate the continued love and support from my family and friends. I am also continually amazed by the kindness of strangers who take the time to answer my questions, and are willing to be part of this endeavor.  I can’t thank them enough!  Of course many thanks go out to all of you for following along. I know everyone has busy lives with a million and one things to do. If  you are new to 603melody or have not had a chance to visit past posts, please do so. But be warned -you may fall through the magical music rabbit hole! One song always leads to another! Hopefully 603melody will help you find some new songs, and artists; or perhaps you will fall in love again with a forgotten favorite.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2019!

Thanks for checking in!
